Minerals Species: Magnetite (rare cubic and tetrahexahedral crystal form).
Location of mineral deposit: ZCA Mine No. 4, Fowler Ore Body, 2500' Level, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York.
Description: Lustrous black magnetite crystal with rare cubic and tetrahexahedral crystal form (magnetite is commonly octahedral) with complex surface crystallization patterns. See: Cubic and Tetrahexahedral Magnetite in May-June 2008 Rocks and Minerals. Complete and undamaged with contact on the bottom where it was formerly attached to surrounding matrix.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 10x9x9 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 10 mm.
